I bought my 2019 Masters 227 in hopes that it would be able to handle a variety of fishing conditions, while also being able to tow the kids on the inner tube and enjoy an evening of cruising with friends and family. This boat does all that and more. It will fish as shallow as any bay boat and keep you dryer than most in transit even in tough conditions. In my opinion, there is no better blend of fishing performance and family friendly design on the market!
This is a great boat and a good value. I've had it inshore and 45 miles offshore in some nasty weather conditions. It offers a surprisingly dry ride and handles well. My Sportsman is a Platinum Edition 22'7" with hard T top. The seating is also excellent. While I use it for primarily for fishing it also is a good family boat and tows tubes etc. with ease. If you are looking for a new boat, you'd be foolish not to look at Sportsman before making a final decision.
Shopped many brands and read many reviews. Went to several boat shows. I have owned many boats and know what a quality boat build looks like. Sportsman hits all the marks in addition to a great value for the buck. I hope she brings me years of pleasure.
I purchased my Sportsman Boat for my Dad who lives in Grand Isle, Louisiana for his 80th birthday. I wanted a boat that we could fish out of and take the family out in for leisure rides as well. I did quite a bit of research on bay boats and the Sportsman Boat is the perfect boat for us! The design and functionality is perfect for both fishing and cruising. My Dad loves his new boat and so do I.
This was my first new boat and my wife and I did our research for a long time. We went to look at a different brand a dealer had with less than 10 hours so practically new. We lake tested it and did not like it. Our salesman directed us to the Masters 227 and we loved it. The day we lake tested it, the weather was pretty rough but the ride was dry and handles the chop without issue. I was sold. The thought that went into the design, fit and finish is amazing as everything is accessible.
We purchased a Masters 227 after we moved to the SC coast. In the past we had a bow rider for recreational boating and a bass boat for fishing; both in freshwater only, but had never used a boat for saltwater use. Our Masters 227 has proven to be very versatile as we use it inshore, offshore and for freshwater fishing. My fishing friends are very impressed with the boat and its options.
